I fault nuclear proponents in the 60s for letting the cart get before the horse, and pushing nuclear development before a waste management scheme was in place. I fault the anti-nuclear movement for refusing to allow a permanent solution to be deployed in Nevada, where a large potential geological repository has been largely completed. Keeping this stuff above ground in temporary casks is not a solution. Time to grow up.

Since the population has been breathing insane amounts of coal smoke (including radioactive elements that reach living lung tissues) for decades, I don’t see the radiation risk from nuclear power plants being as big a health concern there, either.

Use less energy by switching to far more efficient public transit, and walkable/bikable cities.
Get fulfillment from learning and experiences instead of owning and dominating.
Advances through awareness, especially self and psychological awareness. Universal health care including free mental health care; peaceful direct action is a main means of mass psychotherapy.
Emphasizing the commons and connection to nature.
An ecological diet.
Changing the nature of business and corporations to prioritize the commons and ecological good.
Changing culture through education
Abandoning the US empire and rewriting the Constitution to prevent the current fascist coup from ever happening again.
Addiction to domination is maybe the foremost symptom of Wetiko disease, or as I think of it, nihilistic narcissistic psychotic psychopathy. It’s the result of the otherwise crushing sense of inadequacy felt by der Gropenführer la Mango Midas Mussolini and others like him; it’s the reason for rac- and all other isms, nature destruction, addiction to distraction and compensation by ownership and consuming.
One major way domination is encouraged, justified, and reinforced is by the powerful psychological symbols of getting energy from burning things and smashing atoms. It’s a huge reason the hierarchical and domination-addicted far right hates renewables so much.

The solutions to the climate crisis are efficiency, wiser lives, clean safe fast cheap healthy ecological water-wise democratic reliable resilient renewable energy, ecological industry, low meat perennials-based organic permaculture, radical equality, and healing the complex psychological complex causing all our problems.
