According to Paul Krugman, China is already the world’s biggest economy by the metric purchasing power parity.
Have seen that little factoid around. Interesting isn’t it.
They’ll pass the US by the GDP metric soon enough (and with Trump’s help).
“I think” something similar is happening in Canada. Believe it or not, there are already 10 pipelines running from the oil fields of Alberta to the refineries in Texas. But that oil is now too expensive for Americans due to the Trump Tax (er, tariffs). So why does Canada want to build another pipeline? So that oil can get from Alberta to the BC coast where it will be put on tankers for sail to China.
p.s. Here I use the word “oil” loosely. What comes out of Alberta is really an oil slurry derived from tar. But up to 30% of the oil companies in Alberta are run by American investors who do not give a damn.
