True story: I was driving home from work down a narrow two-lane road in the countryside south of Amsterdam. It was quite dark. Suddenly, I noticed a large-haul truck full of sugar beets (just harvested from the field next to the road), and its tail lights were covered in mud, rendering it invisible, so I was basically upon it before I could see that it was backed out into my lane, completely blocking it. I had to swerve around it into the other lane into the oncoming traffic without knowing if I was going to hit someone head on. I had barely enough time to get back into my own lane. Pure luck.
