Music Break: Cat Stevens – Moonshadow

Damn that was every bit as good as advertised.
Traveled to a small town in Northeast Indiana, Portland, and found a beautiful, peaceful park with only a handful of watchers, and a bench all to myself.
The moment when the darkness falls is indescribable.

  1. Counting down to a total crossing my home in New Zealand in 2028, and hoping for better weather than the last 2 partials I tried to see. Another partial I missed because it came up at dawn – in Dunedin – but I was 100 miles further west, in Queenstown, and west of the Remarkables mountains, so at the times I’d been relying on, the sun was still behind the peaks.
Just heard a tip for your next. Stay inside, or cover your head, and watch it on your phone – till totality. That way when you go outside, your night vision has had time to adjust, and you can see the micro-night sky better.

  2. Went to a town in south-central Indiana, easily found an uncrowded park near the center of town. Many people seemed to be in their yards or strip-mall parking lots.

    1. What surprised me is how beautiful the totality was. It looked like is pictures of course, but seeing it up in the sky it was an elegant beautiful object.
