Now the only question is whether the Dems will do what they need to do to make it happen. They have to take the White House, take the Senate, and grow their majority in the House—-we need a bigger Blue Wave in 2020 than in 2018, and who the Dems nominate is crucial.
I worry—-Biden and Sanders are too old, and there are too many men in the field. It’s time to turn the country over to the women and get the toxic testosterone out of the halls of government. My candidate is Elizabeth Warren—she has been around and fighting the good fight that so many of the others are just now signing on to. She can take Bernie on as her Veep.
I also wouldn’t argue with Nancy Pelosi’s long political experience, but it seems she’s hanging back too much.
(And I don’t think we have 11 years—-the monsters under my bed are getting quite restless, especially Tipping Points, Melting Ice, and Exponential)

Good AJ piece on the flooding and the tidal basin although it’s not a “reservoir” but just a pond. SLR is getting to be a big problem in DC, and the area around the Jefferson Memorial and the west end of the Mall is doubly threatened because it’s all filled in marshland and is subsiding as well.
Trump is a mockery of just about anything and everything he speaks about, but the flooding problem in DC is something sane folks have been thinking about for decades—-long before Trump ever arrived on the scene.
The Potomac Park Levee is designed to keep parts of the Mall from flooding. There’s a neat time lapse in this clip showing workers putting up the “gate” that seals one of the roads through the levee.
