Colbert Monologue Touches on Grim Climate Facts

This pirate vid is up for now, includes the whole monologue from the other night that I couldn’t find on the Late Show channel – they chose to omit some of the more gallows humor on climate, apparently.

UPDATE – sadly video has been removed by the user.

  1. Twenty-eight subpoenas from D.C.’s and Maryland’s attorneys general totaling nearly 500 pages have revealed the outline of what will be a remarkable, first-of-its-kind trial. That’s 28 very satisfying uses of “YOU ARE COMMANDED” and 86 references to “requests for production.” Which are, of course, not really requests, given that whole “YOU ARE COMMANDED” part and the judge’s Dec. 4 imprimatur.

The attorneys general, joined by Norman Eisen and Deepak Gupta of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), argue that the president is accepting income from foreign and domestic governments via entities in which he has a financial interest, in this case the Trump International Hotel and BLT Prime, the restaurant inside it. That, they say, violates the Constitution’s emoluments clause:

          1. I’ve got my PF sharpened and BT oiled up and ready to go! I live 25 miles from the White House and can get there in 2 hours! (DC area traffic is among the worst in the nation)

        1. And if they’re not, who says that you must feed it to them? Shouldn’t it be their choice and responsibility to seek out and subscribe to what suits them?

Or are you becoming Crock’s “Big Brother”, the one who is going to mold our thinking? As Russian trolls have been known to do?

And why are you posting at 2:30 in the morning Ireland time? Has too much Guinness kept you up and ranting (again)?

          1. If only I COULD somehow influence the volume, inanity, and redundancy of your posting, it would be a better world for all.

          2. Why don’t you go and ask Peter to remove me from this forum. He has my email address. One single mail from him and I won’t bother any more posting information on his website.

          3. Why would I want to do that? I think that with a bit more concern for “etiquette”, and an effort to be a “nice person”, that you could be a contributing member of the Crock community rather than a distraction.

In case you’re not aware, Peter does not maintain a 24/7 watch on this blog and pretty much leaves it to the 9323 “amazing people” who follow it to police it. He has a life to lead and his other work to do with Yale and the Youtube videos. He pretty much allows comments to run free here, and only steps in when someone goes “over and out”. If I were to mention your inappropriate hogging of this site, he might decide to ban you—-I’d rather see you grow up and contribute positively.

(Besides, we have 23 months until the next election, and it will be interesting to see if you behave more like a Russian Troll as it approaches)
