Local news report above correctly describes the tidal mechanism, and the moon’s orbital characteristics that make Fall the worst tidal season, but no mention of sea level rise or climate.
Miami (or Miami Beach) raised half a billion dollars in extra taxes not too long ago to install 125 new flood pumps, and to elevate a number of roads by three feet (but not elevate the adjacent properties). But not surprised the local NBC affiliate, wanting ads and tourists to continue, doesn’t point out that King Tides weren’t such a problem decades ago, when that one woman’s house was built.
Tip to her – don’t re-do the floors unless you elevate the home first.
