The largest lithium ion battery in the world, for the moment, is in South Australia, and was constructed in under 100 days by Tesla Corporation, following a twitter bet by controversial CEO Elon Musk.
Stumbled on this profile of the project from Australia’s 60 Minutes.
My biggest takeaway was the lithium miners’ eyes glittering from the growth of demand sustaining their business in a country where coal is a dominant money maker*, producing >400 million metric tons a year (most of which is exported).

Was a boom from 2016 up until start of year, now settled, but at least 3 Battery factories are planned. Plus Vanadium Flow batteries are also solidly researched, Plus Graphene Supercaps being developed, plus rare earths such as Dysprosium (Super Magnets – electric motors and generators) and Neomidium – Super magnets. Plus CSIRO has been doing research as to Geological Strata these rare earths are most likely (associated with Uranium)
