Maryland Flooding: Climate Nightmare on Main Street

You may have heard they had a rainstorm in Maryland.

The video above looks like one of those “found footage” horror movies, especially after 1:40.

Below, human chain rescue of woman trapped in car.

Here, my video shows why climate change makes for stronger storms.

Below, aftermath in Ellicott City.

  1. “Once in a century” catastrophes occurring now all couple of years. The “new normal”…

    1. I’m seeing that phrase much too often these days, I guess for the latest generation they will not remember the old normal, and old con artist deniers will try and convince them it’s always been like this.

Florida Residents Concerned Slimy Green Beaches Are Becoming the Norm. . . .

“This is absolutely the worst,” Citizens for Clean Water founder and Stuart, Florida, resident Evan Miller told National Geographic. “We’ve never seen algae so thick. You can see it from space. There are places in Stuart that are on their third and fourth cycle of blooms now.”

      1. And the same thing is happening on the other side of the world, if we didn’t live so separated in our own silo’s so much the penny would have dropped a lot sooner and we would be kicking denier ass long before now.

Lake Baikal’s ‘most beautiful beach’ hit by ‘foul smelling pollution’

Director of nearby Barguzin Nature Reserve Mikhail Ovdin said: ‘I think this is a mix of conifer pollen and algae. Honestly, I haven’t seen anything like it during my 33 years of working at Lake Baikal.’

‘Even our grandparents don’t remember seeing anything like this,’ said one social media commenter.

  2. What does a flood have to do with climate change? Is every flood, dry spell, rain storm, snow storm , wind, all due to climate change? What a lot of
BS. Per the RSS data, the world has been cooling for the last four months and never got warmer than the 1997-98 EL Nino. This flood is caused by humans all right, they built in a flood plain, a flood plain with no dams to control the water on the river and than complain when it rains a lot. That is pretty stupid and has zero to do with climate change.

    1. Tommy-Poo,

In an earlier comment thread, you made this claim.

…and only shows warming after that when they plug 66 percent of the data with estimates which are higher than the actual temperatures they replace.

I proved you wrong by showing that the NASA warming trend can easily be replicated with raw data (no adjustments/estimates/etc.) Link here: https://climatecrocks.com/2016/05/26/exxonknew-and-chose-to-lie/#comment-84594

When you continued to post here without retracting that completely false claim, I followed up here: https://climatecrocks.com/2016/05/28/bill-maher-on-trump-energy-policy/#comment-84709

You also ignored that second request to retract your claim.

      And a third.

      And a fourth.

So I’m following up with yet another request. Will you admit that you were wrong about NASA and the temperature data?

Every time you post here, I’m going to ping on you about this until you acknowledge that you were wrong.

(I don’t really expect Bates to man up and admit that he was wrong; I’m simply using him as an example of how deniers are utterly and completely incapable of fessing up to even the most egregious errors).

      1. No, Tommy Poo-Poo Head will never “man up” and admit he was wrong. He is either a POE who is playing with us and/or too freaking stupid and/or demented to do more than look things up in his Handbook for Denier Trolls and spout tired old denier BS.

He is so far off the road and into the weeds that he no longer serves as a “good” bad example. I say we should put him in that cell the Repugnants want to put Hillary in—-Lock Him UP!!!

    2. Oh you’re so intelligent, in your eyes at least. May we ask where you got your degree in climate science from and the year? Perhaps you could point us to peer reviewed papers you’ve written and had published in reputable climate science journals? Nah I didn’t think so.

  3. Tom, it’s not because floods aren’t anything new as are heatwaves or droughts. It’s the warming of our atmosphere that is putting these weather events on steroids.

Imagine a base ball player hitting the ball. Put him on steroids and he’s hitting the ball more often and out of the park. Believe it or not that is what we are witnessing. This is just a few of the climate change signals that scientist have been predicting for years. Call it BS if you like, but mother nature will prove you wrong no matter how much you scream about red herrings.

  4. Unfortunately people in the video keep repeating “oh my god”… Well your subjective god isn’t listening, this is just plain objective physics showing what happens on a warming planet. I wish more had said “oh my climate change” or “oh what have we done?”. But I guess people find comfort in deities when stuff is getting out of their hands…

    1. Btw forgot to mention that there is a new July record for precipitation in central Bergen, Norway (where I am). And this is a town where it already rains a lot already! Just to seriously break the record the last two days of the month was really pouring down like mad i periods.

  5. With sadness and respect for those who died, any flooding near the ‘consequence-free-decision-making-zone’ known as the ‘beltway’ can be a positive thing. Any group of people who don’t believe in Universal healthcare, except for them, and who don’t believe in gun control, except for them, needs to feel the occasional ‘hand of God’ on their oh-so-autonomous lives, regarding possibly the worst, and most stupid, thing humanity ever chose to voluntarily visit upon itself.

  6. Cockermouth, Cumbria is the hometown of my Best Beloved. In the past 10 years they have had 3 “once in 1,000 year floods.” Down here in Cornwall we had several “once in 100 year” storms over the winter of 2014, only to be beaten by the storms of this last winter.

No one storm can be sourced to AGW but the increased occurrence of record breaking storms can be.
