Not a Scientist? That Doesn’t Even Cover it. Ben Carson Says Archaeologists Wrong, Pyramids Stored Grain

Commencement speech from 1998.  Cut to 3:08 for jaw dropping cray.

GOP front runner Ben Carson ever-so-sensibly discards the “pyramids built by aliens” theory. Ok, so far so good.
But wait. He has his own theory, no evidence required.
Hammers “so called scientists”.

Talking Points Memo:

In his 1998 speech, Carson also dismissed the theory that aliens helped construct the pyramids because “it doesn’t require an alien being when God is with you.”

When asked if he stands by his 1998 comments by CBS News on Wednesday night, Carson said, “It’s still my belief, yes.”

Apparently you don’t have to be a Rocket Scientist to be a Brain Surgeon.

  1. I actually thought that his grade school anecdote about being dumb was genuinely amusing, and if he had only told that, and the part about needing to improve on the U.S.’s poor record in science education, then it would have been a good speech.
But he really went off the rails questioning evolution, the pyramids, and repeating the ridiculous creationist talking point of the second law of thermodynamics. Why would anyone with any kind of science literacy take this man as a serious candidate for president? It is beyond alarming.

problem being, US science literacy is below low.

      1. And ironically, he claims that that was the problem that he too suffered from as a young person, but now (1998 actually) apparently he thinks science illiteracy is a “significant problem”, but he forgot to cc himself on his own views apparently.

  2. I am always surprised by the contortions made by fundamentalist christians when they rewrite history in order to support a literal translation of the bible. Reminds me of Ken’s Ham’s Creation Museum where you can see humans interacting with dinosaurs.

  3. Breaking news! The Carson campaign has just admitted that Ben told a real whopper. He now admits that he was NOT offered a scholarship to West Point, as he claimed in his autobiography.

How many lies and delusions do we have to hear from this man before he is sent packing? Oh, I forget, he seems “nice” and he’s an outsider, so the Retardlicans like him! They’re as crazy and deluded as he is.
