Poorly done by the reporter, imho, who uses the sea level rise numbers only for individual glaciers without putting them in a global context.

Considering the alternative often used is to bury climate news, CBS should be applauded for at least mentioning the new West Antarctica study. I did like the way that the reporter put sea level rise into context by mentioning the NY subway system and Miami.
Along the same lines, Grand Isle in Southeast Louisiana is going to slip under the waves way sooner than Miami or lower Manhattan, exposing New Orleans to the risk of a repeat of the devastation of another inevitable land-falling hurricane. http://tinyurl.com/me6fgj6
The BBC has a fairly hefty article on the same science paper announcement about the West Antarctic glacier retreat:

I agree with Ray. It was a bit choppy and confused, but I wouldn’t quite call it “poorly done”. And as Ray points out, Miami and NYC should get people’s “global” attention . At least they did report it, and without any idiot deniers for ‘balance”.
Brian Williams on the NBC Nightly News did an OK job with it too. Not as long and technical but he talked about significant sea level rise occurring within 100 years, which may shake some folks up. The 200 year window mentioned on CBS is too far out to do that.
