7 News Denver — AIRTRACKER7 shows video of homes burning during in the Black Forest Fire
BLACK FOREST —The Black Forest fire burning north of Colorado Springs has now destroyed at least 360 homes and consumed 15,000 acres, El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa said at a news conference early Thursday. The list of homes that has been evaluated has been posted online and is updated whenever possible.

No wildfire in Colorado history has destroyed more homes.The Waldo Canyon fire west of Colorado Springs in 2012 destroyed 347 homes.
The 7 News segment’s closing statement about the Rocky Mountain National Park Meadows fire is especially interesting.
“Now, this is mostly in beetles killed tree. It’s not threatening any structures at this time.”
I have not read one mention of Global warming in the Denver Post..The fires around the Royal Gorge bridge had a mention of the beetles destroying 10 to 30 % of the trees…the corporate media sucks..

Of course, the pine bark beetle and the increased fires are both symptoms of climate change.

I wonder if the fires won’t stop until the trees are gone. I had hoped because of the relatively moist spring it would mean the fires wouldn’t be as bad. So much for that…
Those American Cardboard Houses are obviously a severe and reckless fire hazard. It is amazing: While only a part of the trees were burning/smoldering, the houses were ablaze like crazy. Maybe build with bricks and shingles next time, like in Europe? That might also help elsewhere against storms and floodings. First step towards climate adaptation: Change the building code!
