You are Not the Boss of Me: Arrested Development Keeps MAGA Breathing Toxic Air

Above, MAGA influencer Eric Metaxas, who I’ve never heard of, expresses genuine 2 year old energy in his outrage against Air Quality advisories.
Says he will do whatever he damn well pleases outside without any of your Big Government masks and precautions.

Please, be my guest.

Media Matters:

As American cities across the Midwest and Northeast suffer from the “worst air quality in the world” due to the spread of smoke from Canadian wildfires as far south as the mid-Atlantic, several right-wing media figures are railing against health recommendations for staying safe.

As Fox correspondent Katie Byrne reported, residents in Cleveland are “really seeing some of the worst air quality they’ve seen in years today.” Byrne said, “Health officials are urging people to limit time outside, especially kids, older adults, and anyone with breathing problems,” noting that many of the people she’d spoken to were “taking those warnings seriously” and keeping indoors. Fox host Sean Hannity reported that breathing the air in New York city is “equivalent to smoking 10 cigarettes a day.”

In fact, experts recommend people in affected areas wear high-quality masks to prevent health problems caused by the wildfire smoke, as “exposure can trigger respiratory problems and irritate sinuses and has been linked to more severe problems. It can affect anyone, but children and those who are older or pregnant or who have preexisting conditions are particularly vulnerable.”

Despite this, several right-wing media figures are taking an absurd stand against such health advice and mocking those taking steps to protect themselves from wildfire smoke.

Flashback to 2023’s shocking smoke event over the Eastern US, which really got a lot of people’s attention – no big deal according to this climate denying, tobacco shilling talking head.

  1. Funny that he claims to be an adult man yet acts like a thirteen-year-old. And of course, the fake outrage is intended to keep whoever fell into listening to him nodding along, instead of reflecting to themselves: “why does this guy think that an advisory by experts is “telling him what to do”?”

When I was a teenager I was notable for stubbornly resisting good advice. Seems this guy is still in his teens?

Let’s try this: Hey Metaxas guy: DO NOT smoke a pack of unfiltered cigarettes a day especially when air quality is poor because it might be bad for your health. Just don’t do it. It’s unhealthy.

And Milloy – always a laugh riot. He mentions India and China having bad air and “no emergency” yet one big reason China went so heavily into renewables was the extraordinary health and productivity impacts from their rampant pollution.

As to India, here’s a quote from an article from Australia’s ABC:

“Air pollution is shortening the life expectancy of Delhi residents by about 12 years according to a September report by the Air Quality Life Index at the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago.
Another study, by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, found one in seven deaths in Delhi in 2023 was linked to polluted air, claiming more lives than high blood pressure, diabetes or obesity related disease.”

In some ways it must be comforting to allow people like Metaxas and Milloy to tell you what to think and what to be worried about. Yet so many Fox addicts seem so unhappy anyway…

  2. Hey! Eric Metaxas! Don’t stab yourself repeatedly in the abdomen with a steak knife!
