Sea level rise will be one of the most important and destructive effects of climate change, so naturally, Deniers have something grossly in error to say about it.
We’ll look, as always, at the source documents.
Sea level rise. It’s been the subject of myth, legend and pop culture for millenia. It is going to be one of the major destructive effects of global climate change. So naturally, its something that makes deniers do and say crazy things.
Here’s the updated, remixed video on a misunderstood topic.
Number one, my sound mixing and quality have sometimes left something to be desired, and I’ve gotten some better equipment and more experience, so I can make them a lot easier to listen to.
Number two, people have asked for related URLs and sites they can go to, in order to follow up on arguments presented in the video, so I am doing that here.
The first-up remix is my debunking of the perennial denier favorite, ‘There’s Global Warming on Mars”, one of my favorites for content, and biggest embarrassments for sound….
One of the enduring myths of climate denialism is that global warming stopped sometime in the last decade. I see it in the blaring headlines of pseudoscience websites, in comments on my videos, even some of our most “distinguished” journalists have been taken in.
In 2 decades of wars for oil and resources, the fossil fuel industry has gotten a lot of bad press.
But climate deniers are people too, and they need to feel good about themselves and what they do. So they’ve worked hard overcome feelings of guilt.
It’s a defense mechanism I call, “Therapeutic denial”…..
In July, as part of my “Climate Denial Crock of the Week” video series, I published a piece that criticized and parodied the work of well known climate denier Anthony Watts, and his “SurfaceStations.org” project.
On July 26, Watts filed what I regard as an improper “DMCA” claim against the video, and had it removed from YouTube.
In june of 2009, a story surfaced about the alleged suppression by the US EPA of information related to climate change. The source of the information was reported to be one Dr. Alan Carlin, who, although a real EPA analyst, was in fact, an economist, not a scientist.
Distortions of the story, from the usual sources, began almost immediately.

Climate science is not completely dependent on climate models. There are many threads of supporting evidence. Still, it is clear that climate models are telling us something important that we cannot afford to ignore.
