Explaining New York’s Deluge

“High end event.”
Chance of storms later this week.

DW, Germany’s PBS, has a report on New York flooding with meteorologist Mathew Cappucci for a nerd-worthy explanation of the extreme storm that trapped people in subways.

“Across the Northeastern US, we are seeing a 70 to 75 percent uptick in heavy rain and flash flood events during the summer months, and that’s something we do expect to see more of due to climate change.”

  1. Not only the summer month, s Nor’easters getting more of a threat in the winter months also…..

    1. I recall one of those frigid snowmakers that blew in from the Atlantic was coming in over “warm” ocean waters. Basically, they were getting massive “lake effect” snow from easterly winds.
