  1. LOL ~ Looks a lot like Ford’s Pinto Pick-up, the first generation Ranger

    I saw this a couple weeks ago and worry a bit about the engineering: about short wheel-bases and too much torque. Jeeps, Broncos, Scouts all had the problem of to much power delivered to too short of a turning radius and had a propensity to roll. From what I’ve learned from my eMini about power to the wheels like electric motorcycles I think it might need a little more work

    Speaking of Minis: the first generation nearly a lifetime ago offered and BMW has a design for though I don’t know if they’ve made one yet a Mini pickup in the new JCW bodystyle, with a 4×4 bed. Twice the cost of a Slate though and they are a bitch to get parts for …


    1. The factor arguing against the Slate being prone to roll is where the center of mass is. In a gas-powered Jeep, the center of mass is well above the axles, and big tires will bring it even higher; but in an EV a substantial portion of the vehicle’s mass is at axle level.
