  1. Yeah – I live in Chicago and have had tornado alerts, derecho and thunderstorm alerts, but when I got a “DUST STORM ALERT” it was a new experience. I’d been sitting on my balcony but was watching the dust as it hit south of me first, and I could see less and less distance until it was pretty dark for a while. Before it got too close I went inside before I got mud in my beer.


  2. The farmers have to go back to planting wind-breaks that they removed when Dept. of Agriculture Secretary Earl Butz started advocating planting “from fencerow to fencerow.” One of the many other benefits from these small stands of trees is prevention of fainting spells at the sight of solar farms.
