  1. It’s getting rid of FEMA as warming effects worsen (exponentially?), AND the insurance industry collapses, AND more people are made vulnerable to losing everything by rapidly increasing inequality & concentration of wealth & power while increasing health costs overwhelm coverage because the ACA is under attack from 4 out of 4 houses—House, Senate, White House, Supreme Court.

The progressive answer to the insurance crisis might be to offer national insurance, but an even smarter answer is to see ahead, and outlaw for-profit insurance because otherwise some will continue to get rich while all high risk people, markets, & areas are thrown together in the designated losers pool, draining tax revenue being squeezed ever more by the oligarchic rule of mbillionaires.

    1. Insurance premiums should be tied to risk plus either the rising cost to rebuild or some sort of one-and-done payout. Anything other than that is not insurance, but a subsidy to living in risky areas.

BTW, a lot of people rely on their houses as their greatest asset (e.g., a for-profit residence). We really have to get people to stop thinking like their parents and grandparents.
