This satellite company wants to sell sunlight—at night.

Meet Reflect Orbital. They are developing a constellation of satellites to sell sunlight to thousands of solar farms—after dark.

As if they’re weren’t enough junk flying around up there …
There’s not a lot of demand at night, and PV solar + battery shift covers the highest-demand part of the night anyway.
Extract all the excited shouting and the noisy ‘music’ and you’re left with a con. A complicated and expensive way of doing what solar + battery already do with ever increasing efficiency.
??? Why on earth wouldn’t they test a reflector from an aircraft higher up? Also given the shake what would have happened if the light had hit a car on the nearby road? I can just imagine a driver being temporarily blinded causing a crash.
