As a general rule, to escape the heat you have to go to a higher altitude or a higher latitude. One gives you thinner air and the other gets you darker winters.

People thinking of Duluth as a climate refuge don’t realize how much fun it’s going to be to live there when “wintry mix’ conditions are more frequent, as opposed to straight-up lake-effect snow.
You need spiked tires to drive on Duluth’s hills in the winter. I know, I’m from Minnesota and my brother used to live in Duluth.
