And, below, how Climate Change makes Wars worse.
Below, Farmer John Fabian of Rosebush, Michigan, completely gets it. No need for Oxford PhD.

After reading Henry Kissinger’s obit yesterday, humans are pretty good at war without invoking climate change

Fifteen of the nineteen 9/11 hijackers were Saudi’s. Yet when the dust had settled on the War on Terror, the primary beneficiary was Saudi Arabia. Not only had the U.S. gotten rid of its regional threat, Saddam Hussein, but had just spent trillions of dollars NOT fighting the War on climate change.
And in many respects, Putin won the War on Ukraine just by starting it. Western democracies were going to have to ask their citizens to sacrifice for the cost of supporting Ukraine JUST as they were bearing the cost of climate action. Who has that kind of political capital? Turns out: nobody. Western democracies have never been as vulnerable as they are now to takeover by rightwing elements: look at Brexit, Trump, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Italy. Not only are these politicians willing to give Putin what he wants on Ukraine, but also willing to give him what he wants on climate.
It may be a perverse incentive, but I don’t see why fossil powers would want Peace in this Age: when faced with the mounting consequences of previous inaction, democracies are finally mobilizing the considerable cost of transitioning their energy systems. And I can’t help but notice that recent Wars seem also to involve these same fossil powers.

Be that as it may, there is no evidence at all that the attacks on U.S soil by terrorists were sanctioned by the Saudi government, in fact the terrorists leader’s citizenship had been revoked by the R.S.A. I sincerely and respectfully hope you are not advocating for ‘collective punishment in this statement. In fact the U.S dealt with the heinous attack very professionally, in my humble opinion.
It is interesting that like the German Krupp dynasty (noted for its production of steel, artillery, ammunition and other armaments.) who are still thriving after making a vast fortune in previous wars, others are also doing O.K from the industry.
“The People Who Profit When It Rains Bombs
Weapons manufacturers have seen stocks surge amid the war between Israel and Hamas. But so have oil companies.”

oops should be K.S.A (not R.S.A)

IIRC, there was documentation of payments from a highly-placed Saudi royal, and his wife, to the hijackers.
Interesting comment Ginger, maybe slightly analogous to the Duke of Windsor’s support of the Nazi movement during Hitler’s period. Hopefully the British Royal family (and the U.K government) as a whole are judged on the Windsor’s behaviour during those dreadful evil times.
