New York Flooding Update: Dangerous, Evolving Situation

Roads dangerous to impassable.
6 inches in some areas, with 6 more on the way, potentially.

Transit Official interviewed below, with insight into how much water removal capacity has been designed into the NYC subway system. Big props to those old-timey engineers, but today’s conditions are beyond what they might have imagined.

  1. It makes a difference when those big trucks plow great wakes further up into people’s homes. One jackass driver (in a company logo truck) was driving too fast through a flooded (poorer) neighborhood and when they asked him to slow down he sped up. He was caught on camera and the company fired him.

  2. I wonder how much more water the storm drains could have handled if not for litter clogging the grates. Look for fines to be jacked way higher in the near future.
