Rat bastard Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal released an oil company from its contractual obligation to reseal a canal it had dug once it had finished. Louisiana politics, with the support of short-sighted communities that wanted those oil&gas jobs, is wholly owned and operated by the oil&gas industry.
To review, loss of Southern Louisiana to the Gulf of Mexico is due to
(1) natural subsidence of the Gulf coast
(2) levees starving marshes of natural sediment
(3) criss-crossing canals that accelerate loss of marshy coast
(4) additional SLR from AGW
(5) bigger storm surge events from AGW strengthening hurricanes
