One thing that jumped out at me: Chinese industry and government have partnered to implement a long term plan. Contrast this to business in the west where government and industry rarely partner on anything (remember Ronald Reagan warning that government gets in the way?) and companies are only interested in their next quarterly results.
As decades of catering to corporate interests (reducing taxation and regulation), the Republicans have long trained American voters to dislike and distrust government. “Government can’t solve your problems. Vote for us and we’ll prove it!”
