I liked the Will Ferrell Commercial, but for those of us who remember who killed the electric car, decades ago – it was a bit ironic.

  1. Part of the problem is of course the ancillary business that goes with ICE vehicles, and fossil fuel is just the most obvious. Much less labor is needed to make an EV which has so many fewer moving parts. Neither liquid nor clutched transmissions are needed in the standard electric motor passenger vehicle, nor are exhaust systems (with catalytic converters and mufflers) or motor oil, or radiators to take the large amounts of waste heat away. This hits Jiffy Lubes and Midas Muffler, as well as the mechanics who ever changed belts or rebuilt trannies.
