Excellent coverage from CBS. Finally the media are beginning to open up on the menace we face.
“Arctic wildfires: How bad are they and what caused them?
This soot can be harmful to humans and animals, entering the lungs and bloodstream.
It also plays a role in global warming. Nasa scientists say the soot absorbs sunlight and warms the atmosphere. If it falls on ice or snow, it reduces reflectivity and can trap more heat, speeding up the melting process.”
“July heatwave up to 3C hotter due to climate change
The record-shattering heatwave that baked much of northern Europe last month was likely between 1.5 to 3.0 degrees Celsius hotter due to manmade climate change, an international team of scientists said Friday.”
This climate change article was prompted by the Siberian wildfire news event. Now if we can only get them to mention AGW/CC whenever they talk about oil prices and oil markets.
A wee bit harsh on us older folks, James Hansen gave the loudest early warning to those who were listening to a congress in 1988. Plenty around to pooh pooh his testimony and treat him like public enemy number 1. Plenty of governments (left and right)) have passed through since then, but none took his warnings too seriously.
Man actually did something about the damage CFC’s and related compounds did to the ozone layer. But very reluctant to give up their lucrative fossil habit.
Who said better late than never. ?
Ex-Nasa scientist: 30 years on, world is failing ‘miserably’ to address climate change
James Hansen, who gave a climate warning in 1988 Senate testimony, says real hoax is by leaders claiming to take action
I’m in that older range. I listened and took action. The scientists were correct about acid rain and the ozone hole. We took action. But again there wasn’t as much cash as with fossil fuels. Better late than never is gone. Too late. It cannot be fixed. And won’t be fixed. Glad I knew enough to not have children.

And science knew about this in the 70’s / 80’s and MOST OF YOU DID NOTHING!
