2019: The Turn of the Tide

I come back to you now at the turn of the Tide.

Visiting Penobscot Bay in Maine, where I watched the sunset on this inlet.

  1. Yes, a good explanation of the basic physics behind global warming. Unfortunately, the writer suffers from the same cognitive dissonance that continues to confuse the issue among the ignorant.

Note his closing words below—-“it cannot be proven that human activity is the cause of global warming” VERSUS The Earth is warming, and humans are the cause” WHAT?!! And “a scientific inference that seems like a good one” VERSUS “it’s unlikely anything else could be the cause”? More mealy-mouthed bullshit that only gives shelter to the deniers.

“It cannot be proven that human activity is the cause of global warming, of course”.

“That conclusion we drew is still a scientific inference. But based on what we know about planetary science, Earth’s atmosphere, human activity and the warming we’re observing, it seems like a very good one. When we quantify the other effects, it’s unlikely that anything else could be the cause. Not the Sun, not volcanoes, not any natural phenomenon that we know of.

“The Earth is warming, and humans are the cause. The next steps — of what to do about it — are 100% up to us”.

    1. Dog, right on!

““It cannot be proven that human activity is the cause of global warming, of course”.”

      Sure it can.

The increase in GHG correlates very well with the stoichiometry of the number of barrels of FF burned since 1850.

The increase in GHG can be calculated to cause the amount of warming we are seeing.

And the carbon isotope profile of atmospheric CO2 proves that all that carbon is from recent burning of FF.

QED – it is warming because of fossil fuels humans have been burning since 1850.
