    1. “Change is coming whether you like it our not. The real power belongs to the People,” she concludes.
For her sake I pray the majority of people are not as lazy and ignorant as they seem and I’d only change the conclusion of her statement. I’d have said:
      — The real power belongs to the Planet. Fear it. It will change if you don’t, in ways you obviously can’t image.”

      1. If real action on climate change is intended, then let’s hope that scientists on a global scale can pilot this behemoth. I’ve been watching ordinary people, how they drive, what kind of houses they build and where. How they treat each other. I’ve talked to some about taking personal action, often about something as basic as recycling and I can predict, within 90% accuracy that none of those people give a good goddam about their environment. Force them to a vote, for or against the reality of anthropological climate change and they’ll vote against just so they don’t have to deal with it and certainly don’t have to change any of their lifestyle, particularly regarding the kinds of vehicles they favor, and the way they drive them for maximum fuel waste and noise. I would also bet that if those who currently believe that man-made climate change is real were told that in order to fix the problem they would have to seriously sacrifice their current comforts and drastically lower their expectations re: a more prosperous future, they would change their minds instantly. Hardly anyone realizes that dealing with climate change as a society means of necessity, serious sacrifice. When has that been popular, outside of a popular war? Maybe anti-climate change action should be presented as the last World War… For that, we must clearly identify the enemy and of course anyone caught dealing with the enemy must be labeled a traitor and so charged.

        1. Good thoughts here and on other threads, and welcome to Crock, but you’re making me crazy with the anthropological-anthropogenic confusion.

  1. I hope Greta gets a degree in journalism, but continues to educate herself and the world. This girl is a force!

    1. Doesn’t happen often that I have to cry, but when I saw her speech I couldn’t help bursting into tears. And it still happens. This girl should become a leader. And I hope she will.

      1. Glad you clarified that a bit—-to go further, DeFazio IS concerned with “governing” and he is a good guy in climate change issues.

Steve Milloy is a denier and whore for tobacco and fossil fuels, and it IS appropriate to question his mental health, ethics, etc. IMO, he knows what he’s doing and is just a greedy sellout.

  2. Time for Carbon Tarriffs on US products
Time to tax US companies where the income is really earned
    Time to boycott US products.
Time to divest from US companies.
Time to trade in alternative currencies.
Time to put in sanctions against the US.

    1. I will show solidarity by holding my breath until these things happen—-come to my gravesite and tell me when ONE becomes reality.
