Their Man Flynn: Why are Climate Deniers OK with Treason?

Rachel Maddow reports on the still-developing scandal that Donald Trump national security adviser, Mike Flynn, reportedly discussed U.S. sanctions with Russia before Trump was in office, and that communication existed during the campaign.

Below, CNN has confirmed parts of the Steele memo, the document containing intel collected by a former British spy who has since dropped out of site.
The memo is most famous for unsavory details, what CNN calls ” salacious allegations”  of the President’s visits to Russia. The most important bits are those that cover the Trump organizations negotiations with Russia prior to the election, allegations that there was an agreement to drop sanctions against Russia, applied by President Obama after the invasion of Ukraine, in return for help in gaming the US election.

CNN:

For the first time, US investigators say they have corroborated some of the communications detailed in a 35-page dossier compiled by a former British intelligence agent, multiple current and former US law enforcement and intelligence officials tell CNN. As CNN first reported, then-President-elect Donald Trump and President Barack Obama were briefed on the existence of the dossier prior to Trump’s inauguration.

None of the newly learned information relates to the salacious allegations in the dossier. Rather it relates to conversations between foreign nationals. The dossier details about a dozen conversations between senior Russian officials and other Russian individuals. Sources would not confirm which specific conversations were intercepted or the content of those discussions due to the classified nature of US intelligence collection programs.
But the intercepts do confirm that some of the conversations described in the dossier took place between the same individuals on the same days and from the same locations as detailed in the dossier, according to the officials. CNN has not confirmed whether any content relates to then-candidate Trump.
The corroboration, based on intercepted communications, has given US intelligence and law enforcement “greater confidence” in the credibility of some aspects of the dossier as they continue to actively investigate its contents, these sources say.
Reached for comment this afternoon, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said, “We continue to be disgusted by CNN’s fake news reporting.”

The Hill:

A top aide to national security adviser Michael Flynn was denied security clearance to serve on the National Security Council (NSC), Politico reported late Friday.

Robin Townley, the senior Africa director on the NSC, learned on Friday that the CIA had denied his “Sensitive Compartmented Information” security clearance.

CIA director Mike Pompeo approved of the rejection, the report said.

The Washington Post reported Friday that Flynn discussed sanctions against Russia with the country’s ambassador to the U.S. in December. Flynn earlier this week had denied discussing sanctions with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

President Trump on Friday said he did not know of Flynn’s talk with Kislyak, but said he would look into the matter.

“I don’t know about that. I haven’t seen it. What report is that? I haven’t seen that. I’ll look into that,” the president told reporters.

    1. LMAO—–an allegation that there is no proof needs to be proven before it has any validity, otherwise it’s just another unsupported “bald assertion” (or opinion). Like “water is not wet”, “the sky is not blue”, and “Russian propaganda s**t sandwiches taste good”.

I will repeat the old saw about “Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion but not to their own facts”, and the FACT here seems to be that there are TRANSCRIPTs of RECORDINGS (with time-date stamps) of Flynn’s discussions with the Russians. How much proof do we need? But wait!—-Trump is looking into it! Maybe he will stand Flynn before the cameras and the two of them will give us the “alternate truth” of what happened?

(And has anyone noticed that Russell Cook is here HACKING the thumbs feature again? That’s the only explanation for the distortions in the “ups” and “downs” on this thread. Russell is obviously doing it in a chiodish attempt to annoy and be noticed, and that’s why he overdoes it so much—-OK, widdle Russell-Poo, we see you! You can go back to sucking your thumb and playing with your blocks under your troll’s bridge).

    2. 1) The WaPo and NYTimes are mouthpieces of the secret government (“intelligence” community).
      2) The liberals are still in denial and repression: the only cause commensurate with this epic defeat cannot be just ordinary Americans, it must be supernatural: They have been defeated by evil itself.
      3) America is great because it is good! So where does evil come from in the world? Obviously from those that resist the American will, mostly Russia, Iran, and China. They are pawns of evil, like Hitler, and other misogynists racists and homophobes …
      4) If Flynn screwed with the Democrat sanctions against the pretend puppeteering by Putin, the ruler of the worlds, he is a traitor, even if others see the sanctions and unsubstantiated election interference as mere propaganda narratives and posturing.
      5) Avoiding WWIII is less important than safeguarding historical social “progress” like gay marriage.

      1. 1) The “intelligence” community that recorded many phone calls between the trump campaign and Russian spies?

        2) There is no evangelical left with insane “dominionist” and “end days” prophesies they are actually trying to make come true

3)Russia has nuclear weapons trained on every large American city and is ruled by a thug. China has nuclear weapons too, is not as much of a geopolitical threat as Russia, but remains a one party dictatorship with geopolitical aspirations.

        4) Again, Flynn is not the only actor in this – Paul Manafort, Rick Gates, Rex Tillerson, Wilbur Ross and Carter Page as well as Trump himself are all persons of interest in this growing and vitally important investigation.

        5) WWIII will certainly not be avoided by allowing Russian intelligence access to the US presidency

  1. WHOA! I’ve always believed that one of the main reasons that Trump and his minions have done so much crazy shit in such a short time is to overwhelm and numb us and keep us distracted from the HUUUGE bomb hidden in the whole Russia-Putin-treason-by-Trumpers thing. Maddow nails it here, and let’s hope that the dam breaks soon and the flood of truth drowns the whole mob of treasonous lying bastards. Turn to the 25th. Amendment, folks, and let’s also rev up the Impeachment Bandwagon.

Trump is going to” look into it”? Can’t wait to hear what he has to say, but suspect it will include “fake news, dishonest and lying media” and all the other “alternative” BS he has come to love.

Flynn “doesn’t recall” saying what the freaking TRANSCRIPT of the RECORDING of his conversation says? Lord love a duck? That reminds me of my days as a school administrator. The “I don’t remember” defense was much in vogue with the young miscreants. Example:
(kid caught with drugs in pocket) “They’re not mine”
(me) “If they’re not yours, what were they doing in your pocket?”
(kid) “I’m just holding them for a friend”
(me) “OK, what’s his name? I’ll talk to him”
(kid) “I don’t remember which friend it was”
Trump, Putin, Flynn, Priebus, Spicer, and Pence would have fit right in.

(And Rachel better not make any trips to Russia. Putin and friends may make her stay permanent if she does. Truth-telling journalists do NOT get medals there the way Exxon Mobil CEO’s do).

    1. Read the article instead of passing ignorant knee-jerk judgment. Differing opinions are as valid as yours, and they don’t make them the opinions of trolls. Here is an excerpt from that article:

Aside from the decades that Russia was communist, no country over America’s long history has been a more faithful friend, particularly in times of need. Even before American independence, Russia under its great monarch, Catherine the Great, defied Britain by trading directly with the American colonies, in violation of the mercantile system Britain then imposed. During the American War of Independence, Russia — which had been an ally of Britain’s — refused British requests of military aid, choosing instead to finance the colonies through continued trade, to keep sea lanes open for navigation and to use its diplomatic leverage to help the colonies obtain a favourable peace.

During the American Civil War, when it looked like Britain or France might enter the war on the side of the Confederacy, Russia’s Czar Alexander II sent his Baltic and Pacific fleets to New York and San Francisco, along with instructions to their admirals to report to President Lincoln for duty should their presence in American harbours fail to dissuade the Europeans from entering the war.

Alexander II, like Catherine, had an affinity for the United States. The two countries had, in the words of his foreign minister, “a natural community of interests and of sympathies.” One such area of common interest was the civil rights of the populace, a sore in their body politic for decades. Alexander’s Emancipation Manifesto, which freed the serfs in 1861, preceded Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation of 1865.

      [snip]

The U.S. tends to blame today’s poor relations between the two countries on bad faith by the Russians, but the Russians, too, have reason to be leery. The post-communist privatizations that occurred under U.S. auspices became corrupt, creating a crony capitalist system of hated Russian oligarchs — multi-billionaires who overnight gained control over much of the Russian economy in the transition from communism to capitalism.

Russians resent the 2014 U.S.-engineered coup of the pro-Russian, democratically elected government of Ukraine and oppose the missile-defence systems the U.S. wants on Russia’s borders, purportedly to shoot down Iranian missiles but which one day could be turned toward Russia. Russians still remember that a century ago American troops occupied parts of eastern Russia for two years, partly to overthrow Russia’s revolutionary Communist regime. Russians also resent what they believe to be a more recent attempted overthrow, that of Putin by Hillary Clinton when she was Obama’s secretary of State. Putin has publicly suggested that the U.S. deployed hundreds of millions of dollars to engineer public protests following his 2011 election victory, in aid of delegitimizing his rule and ousting him from power.

Despite these Russian objections to Washington’s conduct, Russia nevertheless co-operates with the U.S., allowing American forces to use a Russian airbase in its war in Afghanistan and helping the U.S. with intelligence. Russia twice in 2011 warned the U.S. to be vigilant about the Tsarnaev brothers, who in 2013 executed the Boston Marathon bombing.

      _____________________________

Your attitude towards Putin and Russia is that of the Neocons, bent on war with Russia. So, you guys want war with Russia rather than a mutually beneficial friendship with Russia? If that is the case, your concerns about global warming and climate change (which I fully share and have had for a great many years) seem to be superficial and hypocritical in view of the consequences that a war with Russia (which will never be initiated by Russia) will afffect not only your country and Russia but the whole world – an all-out nuclear conflict. Is that really what you wish for? I ask because your attitude certainly indicates it. If your concerns with regard to climate change and global warming are genuine, don’t you think that through friendship with Russia and Putin great progress can be achieved through discussions and negociation rather than through constantly attacking Russia and Putin, thus effectively constantly trying to make them your enemy (which ultimately can only lead to a US-created global catastrophe)? Your belligerence can only produce all-out negativity instead of anything positive, both for your country and for the whole world.

      1. Who exactly are you speaking to here, V? WHO is “passing ignorant knee-jerk judgment”? And on WHAT? WHO are all the “yous” and “yours” that so fill your last paragraph?

Could you please explain why you have to clutter up the thread with excerpts from the article that we have in fact read in its totality at the link?

I assume the statement “Differing opinions are as valid as yours, and they don’t make them the opinions of trolls” is in response to Sir Charles, since that’s the only place the word “trolls” has appeared on this thread?. (And need I remind all that “differing” opinions are not as valid—-those opinions that are backed up with FACTS are far more valid ?)

          1. I assume that this “blank” response means that all the questions I asked about the comment cannot be answered, and that we should therefore feel free to dismiss it as just more bald assertion and unsupported opinion?

    2. Trump would be foolish to pick fights with both China and Russia… (and yes I realized he is a foolish man…)

However, Russia has been our ally in the past and will be again… Further it would be to our disadvantage to push China and Russia into becoming “uncomfortable” allies (we have already done that to some extent)… Russia has always harbored fears of China crossing it’s long shared boarders… ” it measures 4,209.3 km, and is the world’s sixth-longest international border”…..

        1. Louise is a retired “project manager” (power plants) and an engineer, and occasionally says things that make her appear as a closet denier (or at least a delayalist) and a Russian propagandist. When you’re trying to put feet in several camps as she is, you can look and sound “confused”.

The “Russia has been our ally in the past and will be again… ” being an example. Lord love a duck! is the only appropriate response to that Tom Bates-like gem.

    3. That is precisely the same argument used by British and US appeasers in the 1930s about the fascist regime in Germany.

Putin is a nasty, murderous dictator enriching himself and the boyars of his new regime at the expense of the Russian people. Trump is appeasing him

Oh and the news sources cited have sufficient evidence to allow them to make those claims without fear of a libel prosecution

        1. This response is absolute unmitigated delusional nonsense. “No proof, only allegations”, as a famous Crock commenter has been known to say.

        2. Your allegiance is showing.

The historic claims of the appeasers of Nazi Germany are well documented as are the murders and disappearances of Putin’s enemies and opponents.

My characterisation of the wealthy oligarchs of Russia as “Boyars” is justifiable. I just wonder how long before Vladimir the Sly takes the title “Tsar”

Of course you ignore the truth that the news organisations have sufficient proof that they need not fear prosecution

          1. Where is Betsy Harris when you need her to do her “troll whisperer” act. It looks like V may be slipping back onto old habits here and could use some help from Betsy.

          2. Indeed – you and shwadevivre are the most offensive trolls and need to be whispered away. There’s a video that perfectly desribe you two:

          3. Yep, V IS losing it, and returning to her Russian sockpuppet roots. SchwaD and I are trying to discuss substance and fact, and V is heading back to he non-response cache of inane bald assertions and cute clips rather than engage us. Will we soon be back to the “shit-fuck-fart” days we have suffered on other threads??

BETSY HARRIS! HELP! You can’t abandon V in her time of need!

          4. You two wouldn’t know substance and fact if they sliced and diced and salted and spiced and dipped in batter and deep-fried and force-fed you your puny, fetid and shriveled gonads!

          5. Yep, I nailed it—-V is losing it. And while she maunders on in Latin and tries to distract us, try not to be distracted also by the loud WHOOOOSH sound you hear in the background. That’s V’s toilet being flushed—-since the TRUTH about Flynn and the Russians has now caused him to resign, and there is egg all over the Trump administration’s (AND PUTIN’S) face, all that “Absolute unmitigated paranoid delusional nonsense” that V was spouting earlier needs to be flushed. (Hope it doesn’t clog the toilet).

          6. My how refined, using Latin, my how educated. Keep your hair on.
            Ба́ры деру́тся — у холо́пов чубы́ треща́т.

          7. Sorry, wrong language, I neither speak nor understand Ukrainian.
Antiquis temporibus, nati tibi similes in rupibus ventosissimis exponebantur ad necem.

          8. Actually it’s Russian and, to misquote Fry, please stop labouring to prove your secondary education. Oh and leaving children to die merely shows how vile the ancients could be and shows your utter barbarity. Keep tugging your forelock.

          9. It’s NOT Russian? How come when you google it it has many hits under RUSSIAN proverbs? Like this one:

Russian Proverbs and Sayings – With English Translation
            masterrussian.com/proverbs/russian_proverbs.htm

Ба́ры деру́тся — у холо́пов чубы́ треща́т. When the rich make war it’s the poor that die. Literal: Masters are fighting, servants’ forelocks are creaking.

This raises the HUUUUUUGE question of who darling V really is. Does she really have all those Russian friends, relatives, and “roots” she had mentioned, or is she really Russell Cook in disguise? Stay tuned, folks—-V’s baggy Russian knickers are down around her ankles yet again.

          10. So you deny being able to read it but know the dialects of the area well enough to identify the source. Oh, and it came from a Russian language site. Go back to your day job, you’re really bad at being a troll

          11. The only trolls here are you, dumboldguy and your arse-licking acolyte nicole. Идите обратно в ад, где вы принадлежите.

          12. But darling, you know we love you really. Your vile idiocies really make our day and your inability to remain polite is so satisfying. Now go away and tell your handler about how cruel we have been.

BTW thanks again for confirming your Russian identity

          13. Only a sick old fool like V would post a clip of a laughing Hitler and try to make something of it. Sad and disgusting. Not only are V’s baggy Russian knickers down around her ankles, they’re full of poop.

          14. Your command of English is slipping. Atheists don’t have patron saints they have exemplars.

Crawl back under your bridge. You lost the argument days ago

          15. If you had demonstrated any wit or irony then I might have been more pleasant; however you did not show those qualities whilst your sarcasm was of the crudest type.

You still lost the argument and you still are a Russian troll who knows the difference between Ukrainian and Russian

          16. LOL Vera says? The only thing about VerA that “surpasses us by miles” is her self-delusion in thinking that her crude (childish, vulgar, disgusting, etc.) attempts at being “witty” through sarcasm are in any way successful—-in her case, Oscar Wilde was only half right—-Wilde was talking about folks like SchwaD and I in the second half of his comment—-VeRa is the sole owner of the first half.

“Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but the highest form of intelligence.”
            ― Oscar Wilde

The only “irony” in this whole situation is the fact that vERa is her own worst enemy, and the more she posts, the more that becomes evident to any Crockers who are able to get past the ugly sight of her standing there with her poop-filled baggy Russian knickers down around her ankles.

“You still lost the argument and you still are a Russian troll…..” says it all.

          17. That the source code for your ‘bot? You’ve lost the argument long ago, you’ve failed as a troll, you’ve failed as a human and you’ve failed to disrupt

          18. Reported for threats … and you have still lost the argument

BTW you’re welcome to come to Cornwall anytime. Just be aware that smuggling weapons into the UK is quite hard

          19. Nope, you don’t have a brain, otherwise you would neither have lost the argument so quickly nor revealed so rapidly your Russian origin.

Try growing up before the полиция come and silence you for your utter incompetence.

          20. You denied your Russian origin at first. You’re just another fantasist – Oh and I’m teetotal.

Really, stay off the bathtub stuff, Troll, it’s rotted your brain already.

And you still lost the argument

          21. Prove that I ever denied my Russian origins. You can’t, because I never did so – and it is only in your and dumboldguy’s addled brains that I lost any argument. Of course, you are wholly entitled to entertaining your delusions, but that is all they are – total delusions.

          22. Yes, you seem to be well versed on pigs. And since you are such a good representative of “piggish” thinking and behavior, it doesn’t surprise us to hear you go OINK! yet again.

          23. But your website is Russian language, pretty rare for someone who denied Russian nationality.

As for your claimed nationalities … why are you not trying to combat the stance of the Met Office, the Hydrographic office, the Admiralty, Meteo Swiss, the Swedish, Norwegian and Danish Ministries of Environment and Energy? All of these are functioning under the impression that climate change is real and anthropogenic.

No you are a either a Russian troll or one of those self obsessed loons like (Monckton or Watts or Tom Bates) unable to grasp that the evidence overwhelmingly supports the concept of anthropogenic climate change. Excuse me if I prefer to believe you are sane.

          24. Wrong, my website is NOT in Russian, as you would know has you bothered going further than the first video which happens to be Russian.

          25. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz………………………………………….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          26. I am more “awake” when I’m asleep than you are after you drink 20 cups of coffee while sitting in a tub full of ice water.

          27. Since vera thrives on mindless repetition, I will repeat myself also.

“….vERa is her own worst enemy, and the more she posts, the more that becomes evident to any Crockers who are able to get past the ugly sight of her standing there with her poop-filled baggy Russian knickers down around her ankles.

“You still lost the argument and you still are a Russian troll…..” says it all.” And
            ZZZZzzzzz….!!!!!

BETSY HARRIS!!! Where are you? V needs you! Come whisper to her!

          29. Since verA thrives on mindless repetition, I will repeat myself yet again.

          30. LOL? The only thing “funny” here is that you think posting these crappy little “sarcastic” clips (that any 10-year-old can access) is in any way humorous or proves any point other than that you are a sad and pathetic old lady .

You are an attention seeker, V, and it’s too bad you are apparently too stupid to get attention by discussing climate science—-the raison d’etre of this blog. You have long ago driven away everyone but SchwaD and I here, and I’m done with you. Take the last word—-then put on some clean baggy Russian knickers and pull them up from your ankles.

  2. To address the title of this post. the climate deniers are “OK” with a whole bunch of stuff, so adding treason to the list is no big deal. Racism, misogyny, discrimination based on age-religion-sexual orientation-socioeconomic status, ignoring the constitution, supporting the appointment of unqualified cabinet members—-the list is very long.

The “why” is harder to figure out, beyond the obvious fact that they are unworthy of the title of “human” beings.

      1. In a recent Pew Research paper, this is what they found…

“Half or more liberal Democrats, by contrast, see negative effects from climate change as very likely and believe an array of policy solutions can make a big difference.”

What that means is that there is a significant number of liberal Democrats that do not see Climate Change as an issue…

Further, “fewer than half of Americans have “a lot” of trust in information from climate scientists (39%)”.. (for clarity, I appreciate the work of the scientist researching this issue… I also believe that they are understating the time frame and magnitude of what is to come….)

So issue is not just “Right Wingers…”!!!!!!

Making this an “Others” (in this case the Right Wingers) doesn’t help matters or strengthen the argument… it just adds fuel to the fires.. and the real pressing issues are ignored in the smoke screen.

        http://www.pewinternet.org/2016/10/04/public-views-on-climate-change-and-climate-scientists/

    1. No Dark Ages… and not just because of Putin and Trump…. but because to address this issue means stopping the burning of fossil fuels.

Our respective societies are not willing to do that.

EROI’s are what it is all about….. and renewable’s are not a substitute for FF…. nor will they ever be… our way of life as it exist today cannot continue.. (but that doesn’t mean that it will all end… humans are tough….)

The long and short of it is if you stop burning fossil fuels you crash the economy and our society…. And the Powers That Be (and those who enjoy the current ” life style”) are going to hold on to the bitter end…. and it will indeed be bitter.

This lecture by Daniel Schrag (Daniel P. Schrag is Sturgis Hooper Professor of Geology, Professor of Environmental Science and Engineering, Director of the University Center for the Environment, and Director of the Laboratory for Geochemical Oceanography at Harvard University.) is excellent… part of the Leakey Foundation.

  3. At the 6 response point, the “rate this” feature shows an average rating of four stars. Since there are only four votes, the math works out to votes of 5+5+5+1 =16/4 = 4. Want to place any bets on who gave the piece the one star “very poor” vote? (Hint. It wasn’t me or Sir Charles)

        1. May we assume that this “blank” response means that V agrees wholeheartedly with Nicole? That it IS highly likely that some “damn Russian troll is at it again”?

PS A look at the latest “stars” rating shows 14 votes total, and still with an average of 4 stars—–that’s below the 5 star rating this excellent piece should be getting. So, it’s safe to assume that MORE than one “damn Russian troll” is busily downvoting it with 1’s.

(Unless, of course, Russell Cook has found a way to hack the stars along with the thumbs).

  4. Came across this article and found it very insightful…

“How the Trump regime was manufactured by a war inside the Deep State”

It is a bit of a read (40 min) but I thought it was worth the time.

    https://medium.com/insurge-intelligence/how-the-trump-regime-was-manufactured-by-a-war-inside-the-deep-state-f9e757071c70#.gparr7g9u

On a separate issue, the veterans plan on standing between the police and the protestors at Standing Rock… If the police harm any of the veterans this is going to go to a very bad place…

    1. Yes we are! And proud of it! What are you besides an ignorant troll that comes here with an inane comment that says nothing?

        1. No, nut in the US or Europe—that’s just “fake news” from the alt-right. There have been some in other parts of the world, and mainly in the past.

  5. You folks are becoming more delusional with every single minute that passes. You really really need to visit your mental health professional and get those meds. You will feel a whole lot better.

You than should go read the constitution.
Nothing in that document allows the government to prevent a private citizen from discussing anything with a foreign national in or out of government. You folks want to trash the constitution in your mad frenzy to over turn the election.

Get over it. Your heroine , Jane Fonda discussed foreign policy in the middle of a war with the North Vietnamese while McCain was rotting in one of their prisons and you did not call her a traitor, Carter discussed the USA policy, Israeli settlements and peace with both the Israeli government and the government of the Palestinians while a private citizen and nobody called him a traitor. Hillary had a number of foreign government people into her offices while a senator and when she was a private citizen and nobody called her a traitor. Pelosi who is not the executive branch discussed foreign policy with various foreign nationals in and out of government and nobody called her a traitor. You can discuss, that is what is alleged to have happened by somebody who is a slime ball. You are simply delusional to make this claim.

    1. Tom, it seems that in your efforts to defend Michael Flynn’s alleged actions (as a private citizen, just before he became national security adviser – one of the single most powerful positions in the US government), you are (perhaps unintentionally) defending similar alleged actions of Jane Fonda, Jimmy Carter, Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi – All of whose alleged actions have indeed been called traitorous by those on the right. Am I following your reasoning here?

    2. I see Master Bates has ejaculated his spurious reasoning into the internet yet again.

Jane Fonda was not a member of the US Government, nor was she in any position to influence the policies of either political party.

Carter acted as a private citizen and as an elder statesman to help broker peace between warring states at the invitation of those states.

Hillary id not conspire with foreign governments to subvert the US electoral process.

Pelosi as a member of Congress has the duty to discuss foreign policy.

Contrast this with Flynn who offered favours to a foreign government in exchange for their assistance with the US election. This is precisely the sort of treason indulged in George H W Bush, William Gregg and William Casey. This is not a conspiracy theory as main players in this affair (outside the Reagan circle) have admitted their part.

  6. There is a recent, detailed article regarding analysis by intelligence officials of the dossier (minus the salacious parts) which argues for a close correspondence between the timelines of the election and those of members of Trump’s team. Well worth reading.

    One point of particular interest:

The dossier alleges that the Trump campaign made a secret deal with Russia in which Trump “agreed to sideline” the issue of Russian intervention in Ukraine. In return, the document claims, Russia promised to feed the emails it stole from prominent Democrats’ inboxes to WikiLeaks to damage Hillary Clinton’s candidacy.

The “well-developed conspiracy of cooperation between [the Trump campaign] and the Russian leadership was managed on the Trump side by the Republican candidate’s campaign manager, Paul Manafort,” the dossier says.

The timeline of Trump’s ties with Russia lines up with allegations of conspiracy and misconduct. Feb 11, 2017. Natasha Bertrand. Business Insider

Within days of the weakening of support for the Ukraine in the Republican Party platform from offering support in the form of lethal weapons to simply providing “needed assistance” Wikileaks began publishing the DNC’s stolen emails.

This really is reminiscent of Watergate, except in this case it would seem that the people who were trying to get their candidate elected were working with the chief global adversary (both political and military) of the United States. Not technically treason, as there was no formal declaration of war, only the hybrid warfare of General Gerasimov. But I have little doubt that as the senator states, if this turns out to be true, there were likely a fair number of laws that were broken by members of Trump’s team.

    1. Well said, and just more proof of why Flynn’s days are numbered.

V is probably asleep now over there in Switzerland, but if she were awake I know the Putin sockpuppet would say “Absolute unmitigated paranoid delusional nonsense” or something equally inane in response.
