David Frum: What Happens Next is Up to You.

David From is a former speechwriter for George Dubya Bush.  Author of the “Axis of Evil” – a fake news legend in it’s own day.

Sobered by spectacular failure of the Iraqi venture, he’s emerged as a critic from the Right of the Trump administration.

    1. Really? We know that you Whores for Putin are always trying to sow dissension and make Americans doubt our system, but this is just another of your half-assed bald assertions that proves nothing.

What exactly are “all the wrong reasons”? And what would be the “right reasons” for a “sizeable section of the GOP to be VERY much against Trump”? Tell us, and no links or quotes—-use your own words and display your brilliance for us!

Show us that you are not a STUPID woman!

      1. You didn’t answer my questions.

  1. I don’t mind ads, but the one that appeared on this post is a continuously–playing video that cannot be stopped and causes the page to repeatedly jump back to the video when it has scrolled off the screen. I love your posts but this is unusable. I had to edit this in another app & paste it here.

    1. Which ad was that? And I assume it appeared when you played the “What Happens” clip. I played the clip as it was presented on Crock and also straight from YouTube with no problems.

I have found that sometimes when I try to hit the “X” to remove an ad, my dumb old fingers miss a bit and I bring up the ad instead—-some of them can then be hard to stop but I’ve never had one that just kept going. Maybe your browser is is weak? What do you use?

  2. Frum nails it beautifully. Public indifference has ALWAYS been the main problem in all human societies from the beginning of time. Everyone is too busy “getting theirs” and “getting ahead of the next guy” to pay attention to the evil SOB’s that always rise to the top.

Remember the wetiko! It’s not just an old legend.

And there’s this—-why indifference is so damaging—-it leads to kakistocracy:

“The Greeks have a word for the emerging Trump Administration: kakistocracy. The American Heritage Dictionary defines it as a “government by the least qualified or most unprincipled citizens.” Webster’s is simpler: “government by the worst people.”—Ryan Lizza in a New Yorker article

  3. Frum is interesting in his criticisms of the Con party now but beware, he still holds on to some core propaganda of the Cons. A recent article of his was on a future scenario of Trump’s presidency and he, Frum, started off with the old plum about ‘after taxes were slashed the working class made big gains in their paychecks of course’. This is a core lie of right wingers, just look at the history of who made pay gains after Reagan slashed top % taxes. Working classes gains have stayed very low while only the upper and top tier have seen a huge increase in wage benefits. Take Frum w many grains of salt, he still carries on the rw party line of obfuscation in many things he writes about and he does it in subtle ways. He does now make many valid hard criticisms of Trump’s party yet he also still carries on some of their myths that he himself helped propagate.

    1. Yep, one can never trust ANY conservative or Republican very much. That’s because even the ones who speak some specific truths, as Frum did here, cannot be trusted to NOT revert to the old ways and push the same old bullshit like trickle down. The fact that he now criticizes Trump gives him no special credibility beyond establishing that he is reasonably sane.

    1. Honduras ? Honduras is the original banana republic. Innumerable military and clandestine operations by the US have conspired to effect coups and regime change to stymy social protest and progress.
If “it” were happening in Honduras, the MSM would be all over it with another false narrative about drugs exports or comunists or terrorism or something else to justify intervention in America’s “back-yard”.
The free and independant press! (6 gaggles of uber-rich corporations producing mostly pulp and entertaintment, with selective coverge, and often false narratives without the support of local investigative reporting).
The Republicans are mainly worried that Trump will actually carry through on discarding the war-mongering regime-change continual war policies of the neo-con military-industrial establishment. So far, unfortunately, he is nevertheless continuing the illegal and outrageous drone murders (in Yemen).
The increasing powers of the executive in the US has been going on for decades!

    2. In “Hard Choices” Hillary admits to preventing the return of democratically elected president Zelya (who was kidnapped in his pyjamas and whisked abroad) by the military, thus “restoring order”, contrary to the contemporaneous MSM narrative, which was how the US was supposedly working to stop the coup. Once again, the US helped into power a murderous extreme right wing authoritarian government: the results have been catastrophic from a humanitarian point of view (and political: acting in defiance of Latin America and the UN Gen Assembly).
