Pick up the damn phones, people! Better yet, if you’re close enough, go to your rep’s offices and deliver your message in person. And write letters and emails and demand a reply that is more than a form letter. My last email to my congressman included the word BULLSHIT (yes, capitalized) in almost the very first sentence, and if I don’t get a reply I will be hopping in the car to find out why. The office staffers DO listen, DO take notes, DO make tallies, and DO pass on the info to the reps.
Whether the rep pays much attention or not is another story, and highly dependent on whether you’re in a red or blue state, but doing nothing is guaranteed to get NO results.
