Katharine Hayhoe: Does the Bible Mention Climate Change?

My friend Katharine Hayhoe is a climate scientist, and an evangelical Christian.  She is a great ambassador for climate science to a community that needs a little encouragement.

Dr. Hayhoe and I agree that, contrary to stereotype, one finds a great deal of spiritual and moral conviction in the science community. That spirit of constant search for truth is itself, a fundamentally spiritual quest.

Above, she takes on some fallacious arguments climate deniers use to confuse the religious faithful.

Hayhoe also appears in the video below, one of my favorite “This is Not Cool”  pieces, that I presented at the American Geophysical Union in 2015 – on Climate as a Moral Issue.

Below, famous clip of congressional climate denier misusing biblical quotes.

  1. Incidentally, while not a christian or bible scholar I do seem to remember something about a flood which should have been a real climate change event.

  2. What is with you people, you cannot even write something down without making vulgar and stupid remarks, Trump says he has a problem with the evidence that man is warming the world, plenty of people have the same problem as there is no actual evidence. It is all opinion.

    1. “plenty of people have the same problem as there is no actual evidence”

Can only be said by people who refuse to believe the evidence. The Climate Science community the world over has given it to us in spades. Just educate yourself on the science and quit listening to those who only want to deny it and “manufacture” doubt. Scientific measurements and tests are not “opinion”. They are results. Those results , taken with all the other findings, constitutes “Evidence”. “Just opinion” is yet another smokescreen of denial.
