  1. This is just depressing. Is there a word more shameful than shame? Because I dont think shame quite encapsulates how I feel about my countrymen anymore. Sorry saner parts of the world.

  2. His Chris Monckton retired? What about the CEO of Exxon. I don’t believe Sen Cruz could possibly get an accurate picture of what’s making the planet cool without input from a larger panel. Oh yea and Lloyd and Harry from Dumb and Dumber too would improve the intellectual rigour!

    1. Yes, I knew there were good reasons for my feeling ill at the mere sight of Cruz and nearly upchucking when listening to him speak. He is the Wetiko personified, and it is truly scary that he is “surging” up into Trump-Carson Land.

The Republican Party has truly lost its collective mind, and the title of Cruz’s little Holiday Pageant—-“Data or Dogma? Promoting Open Inquiry in the Debate over the Magnitude of Human Impact on Earth’s Climate” proves it. It’s perhaps the best joke the Repugnants have come up with in a while, so maybe some of them DO have a sense of humor. OPEN INQUIRY? DEBATE? LMAO!

Too bad Cruz missed his chance to have Snoopy testify about the Great Pumpkin back around Halloween. When it comes to expertise about climate change, Happer and Steyn are about as well qualified as last year’s rotten pumpkins. Curry needs a keeper, and Christy’s sliminess evokes the same kind of nausea as Cruz, albeit not as visceral. Imagine that crew in costume appearing at your door shouting “trick or treat”. (Add Trump as the Great Pumpkin).

    1. The ever “fair-and balanced” (at least compared to Faux News) C-Span. The fact that a hearing such as this is even broadcast when everyone knows it’s just BS Repugnant propaganda puts the lie to that.

  3. To the parties involved here, “open inquiry and debate” equates to “Our views demand to be put on an equal footing with the consensus views!”
They see unfairness when their views are challenged by scientists working in that field with mountains of data that shows that they are in error.
It’s Ok to be wrong in science, that’s how progress is made. It is NOT Ok to demand that your views or hypothesis be accepted as just as valid as competing views despite the fact that they make the stronger scientific case supported by multiple lines of evidence that shows a pretty consistent picture.
This is a phony dog and pony show to appeal to low information voters, boost Cruz’s profile during an election, and to distract from the real work of climate science, and the world trying to come together to solve the problem.
    Truly despicable!
