Alley is a star, his exchange with Rohrabacher back in 2010 seen in Alley and Rohrabacher: Brain vs Blowhard is a classic.

Richard Alley forgot to mention that the fact that warm water holds less CO2 then cooler water may be the whole reason behind the data he is presenting. If you look at the ice core data he presented with more temporal resolution it will become obvious that CO2 changes lag temperature changes so temperature changes must be the cause of the CO2 changes. Older data comes from proxies without sufficient temporal resolution to determine what causes what. Clearly the Milankovich cycle data he presented shows that the temperature data he presented is not correlated with Milankovich cycles.
Best to watch the video series before coming here cold to comment. It would avoid embarrassments like this for you. The “temp leads carbon” crock has been thoroughly debunked.
But since you bring up the “carbon must be from the ocean” crock, I decided to pull out a piece of my recent interview with Dr. Alley’s colleague, Lee Kump, a Geo-Chemist also at Penn State. He explains how carbon isotopes show that the current build-up can only come from fossil fuel sources. You can see that in today’s post, here-

It’s always interesting that they keep regurgitating this crock, especially since they don’t have physical reason for the warming we see today that is supposedly driving up CO2 levels.
