Climate Change Elevator Pitch: Simon Donner

The Elevator Pitch series has been pretty well received.
I had a request a few weeks ago from Al Gore’s Climate Reality group to upload some of these to their facebook page – where, in the last few days, the Eric Rignot piece has gotten almost a quarter million views.

Here, University of British Columbia Climatologist Simon Donner weighs in.  After watching, you may wish to visit his blog, Maribo.

The interview was conducted in San Francisco in December, 2014 – this and many, many others are part of the Massive Online Open Course that Skeptical Science has put together on climate denial.

    1. A good one, but it runs head on into the massive cognitive dissonance-motivated reasoning-confirmation bias that so many of the “unwashed” suffer from. I have used this argument, and many times you can see in the eyes and body language what’s going on inside the head, even if it remains unsaid.

      “…..but Rush said….Inhofe said….the science isn’t really settled….you’re not a scientist….Boston got 9 feet of snow….Al Gore….God….”

It does work well with those who have reasonably open minds and are not ignorant of science.

      1. Not aimed at idiots. Let them go, they are lost.
going for the vast middle which is just waking up now.
