After bitter cold yesterday, we awoke to bright sunshine and mild breezes.
I decided to give the Canon 4ti a test with a time-lapse project, looking west from a soft grassy hump right in front of the Dark Snow Project cottage/HQ.
Inside, the team is working intensely with footage we picked up on the ice on the 25th, and interviews shot yesterday new team member Sara Penrhyn Jones, who has jumped right into the flow without skipping a beat. We won’t know more about our transport situation til monday, but as for now, this is time we had planned for media development in any case.
See what you think of the time lapse. More sciencey stuff coming soon, but the atmospherics are important to the message as well.
The Excavator and heavy equipment operator on the beach is an amusing proof of concept. Nice and steady. Looks good.
Peter – it’s lovely, but there is a technical issue. You left the camera on autofocus, and you’ll see a slight bit of zooming and out as the time lapse progresses. That’s a function of the focusing ring on zoom lenses. Anyway, set the camera on a tripod, focus on your subject, then click the focus from autofocus to manual before setting the timed exposures.

working up to that. battery could be an issue, as is the difficulty of leaving camera unattended outside while sleeping.
Battery life goes down in colder temperatures, unfortunately.
