Fully Charged: Wind Farming

Good interview with a UK farmer who is using wind power on his operation, selling power back to the national grid, and expects a payback in 5 to 6 years on his investment. Yes, some of his neighbors were upset. They have their equivalent of dittoheads in the UK, too.

Discussion includes the advantages of the the UK feed-in tariff that supports renewable energy. More about feed-ins in an upcoming post.

  1. Yeah. We have a farmer here in Ireland who is campaigning against wind farms. He actually believes (!) that windmills are net consumers and need electricity to spin their propellers. LOL

    1. Mental note to self: When sitting down to read the comments in the latest update at Peter Sinclair’s Climatecrocks make sure you DON’T have a mouthful of morning coffee!

You Sir, came very close to receiving a bill for a new laptop. ;0)

  2. Robert Llewellyn’s FullyCharged is really awesome. I miss his test drives and reviews of EVs / Hybrids / alt-energy cars but the expanded series looking at the grid, solar energy, wind farming, sustainable housing in the UK and some trips to Germany as welll are very interesting, informative and entertaining.

It’s well worth your time to subscribe to his YouTube channel and watch his videos.

For the Red Dwarf fans, he played Kryten for 10 years and will reprise the role in an upcoming series.

  3. He’s had that for more than half a year. Why does he not suffer from migraines, nausea, diarrhea, rashes, nightsweats, partial deafness etc? Why is there no massive pile of dead birds and bats at the base of that hideous thing? Why aren’t the cows on his and his neighbours’ properties giving birth to two-headed calves and producing sour milk?
