Brigadier General Steven Anderson, US Army (retired) handled all logistics in Iraq for General David Petraeus for 15 months. In this presentation, he talks about the unbelievable energy costs of maintaining a military presence in the mid-east (in order to secure and control energy supplies, but never mind..) and the Military’s recognition that energy efficiency is a national security priority.

Well that is just great! Insulate the tents out in the desert with foam. But how about shutting down the foreign wars and using the resources to develop carbon and energy efficiency here at home? Just a thought.
point well taken. However, that’s not the Army’s job to make those decisions, — They just execute, and it’s significant that they are putting resources into efficiency and renewables, because many of our most useful technologies developed first in the military.
End the foreign wars, but maintain the ability to efficiently execute humanitarian efforts.
