“It’s BP’s Rules, Not Ours.”

“BP’s Rules, not ours.”
That’s what journalists were told when they were blocked from visiting and filming oil soaked beaches by a boatload of BP thugs – and threatened with arrest. Perhaps it’s time to let BP know who makes the rules in America.

Crock of the Week will be back soon.  Complete coverage of the oil disaster at FireDogLake.

Wind 2 – Renewable Energy Solution of the Month

I couldn’t fit nearly enough into my first wind video, and many of the unused clips address questions that viewers have since asked.

Wind – Renewable Energy Solution of the Month

That there is power in the wind is not a new discovery.  Man has been using it for thousands of years. What most people don’t realize is how much experimentation has been going on in this century.

There is no shortage of energy…

Also see Wind 2, with additional clips and questions answered.

Debunking Lord Monckton, Part Two

A character that seems to leap right out of a Monte Python skit, Lord Monckton is the darling of those who wish desperately to believe the fantasy of climate denial. There’s way more than one video can possibly contain, so a two part series was necessary to even begin to deal with the fountain of disinformation that is Lord Christopher Monckton.

Debunking Lord Monckton, Part One

He’s everywhere on the climate denial circuit.  He’s not a scientist. He’s a classics major and journalist.

How is it that he’s been able to sell himself to climate deniers as their number one spokesman? First, like any good salesman, Lord Monckton knows his customer.

Tonight’s Climate Crock Live – The Winter in review

Log in to ask questions live, and I’ll try to outline what we know, and don’t know, about one of the warmest
winters on record.

We’ll be broadcasting the second week of the new ClimateCrocks Live webcast on the newly launched Climate TV website.

Live from the Gleaming towers of Vancouver

Last week was a good start, although we hope to iron out a few kinks. The interview is also available on Vimeo, so it’s embeddable.

Tonight we’ll be doing a review of this past winter, including showing It’s So Cold, There can’t be Global Warming, which outlines the causes of the December and January freeze that lead to so much heavy breathing in the deny-o-sphere.

Now, looking back at the last few months, we see that the heavy snowstorms were part of a pattern of huge precipitation events that has continued now into spring. Continue reading “Tonight’s Climate Crock Live – The Winter in review”

Flogging the Scientists

As a nonscientist, it’s daunting for me to work thru the huge volume of information on global climate change. I’ve found that the most reliable scientific information comes from respected peer reviewed science journals .

But journals have lots of big words, and lots of small print, and very few illustrations to make it easy for me. You can see why climate deniers don’t like them. But that’s where the facts are.

How can you tell a good science journal?

What We Know about Climate Change

In the many responses I get to these videos, it appears that a number of people want to deny, or are not even aware, that there is a scientific foundation to the overwhelming consensus on climate change.

In fact, the science is built on thousands of publications and many decades of observation.

In this video we’ll go over some of the fundamental discoveries, the basic facts that we know beyond a doubt, about global warming.  Of course, many people will never believe science, because they believe that anything that challenges their world view, is all part of a secret, global conspiracy.

Plug-in Hybrids: Renewable Energy Solution of the Month

This video inaugurates a new series, that will augment, but not replace, “Climate Denial Crock of the Week”.

Many people seem to think dealing with climate change will bring poverty and limit human development.  The truth may be exactly the opposite. Moving to a world of where we aren’t fighting each other over the last few drops of oil, where energy is free, will mean a better life, with greater opportunities even for an expanding population. If we make the right decisions, we could be on the verge of the most prosperous period in human history.

It’s so Cold, there can’t be Global Warming

We’ve heard a lot of talk lately from deniers that cold temperatures are proof that there is no such thing as global warming. It looks like it will be an annual event for me to remind people that winter still follows summer. Since deniers seem to want to believe the warming thing is all a lie, perhaps a little review is in order.
