PBS Weathered: Climate and Groundwater on Collision Course

How much longer will PBS be able to continue this kind of reporting?
Just gave something to my local station, but not sure that’s enough. We’re in a moment here where we could lose our media eyes, ears and brains.

The video above is on groundwater, and the effect of climate on our use of it. It highlights a poorly understood, but critical impact – the subsidence of surface land as aquifers are drained below.

A few years ago, I spoke to Martha Shulski, at the University of Nebraska, about one of the most important US underground aquifers – the Ogallala. Dr. Shulski was Nebraska State Climatologist at the time.
