I don’t know about this guy: sometimes he’s really informative, and others I find him to be barely concealed, condescending denial. The latest I’ve seen he claims EVs are the worst thing we can possibly do …

3. Just the same, not much different from figures I’ve seen many places. Borlace seems to be more bullish on em & have even more—much more—EV-flattering figures from the Ember study he highlights.
4. I think if we want civilization & millions of threatened species to survive, we need to prioritize public transit, but everything powered that moves (or doesn’t) needs to be run on renewable electricity.
5. I really like Borlace, & not just because he makes me think of Wallace & Grommet every time he opens his mouth.

2. Yeah, IEA has a horrendous track record
3. Clean, quiet, improving emissions as the grid improves, not 0mph at stoplights. That’s all I need.
4. Public transit that doesn’t smell like urine and/or isn’t infested with roaches is nice. (I would also appreciate grope-free.) Also, I used to love walking, whether circuits or destinations, until my joints got arthritic.

Obviously the transit I’ve experienced in 2 dozen places all over North America & Europe has been better than your experience or rumor.

I used to commute to my summer job on city buses infested with roaches, I recall that the smell of urine was pervasive on the Boston T Red and Green lines stations where I waited to board, and I usually avoided traveling on packed cars because of claustrophobia, but I’ve had a couple of experiences with groping (and once a hard-on rubbed into my hip).
I did enjoy commuter rail for a few years, where I could read and relax and watch the traffic we rolled past.

Point 4 above reminds me that it’s not possible to remind people too often of this great ad, even if you have to watch an ad to get to the ad.
