Profoundly Unserious: Vanity Candidate Stein Urged to Withdraw

Historians picking thru the wreckage to find out just who played the biggest part in crashing democracy, and ultimately, civilization, will, of course, assign blame to Petro-Dictators like Vladimir Putin and Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.
But a chapter will have to be written about the nihilistic egotism of people like Jill Stein, Ralph Nader, and their burn-it-down lefty followers.

Telegraph:

Jill Stein has refused to drop out of the race for the White House despite calls from more than a dozen Green parties to do so.

The US Green Party candidate is under pressure to end her presidential campaign just days before polling day, amid claims that she could fatally wound Kamala Harris and hand the election to Donald Trump.

A coalition of European parties across Europe has used an open letter to urge Ms Stein to suspend her campaign and endorse Ms Harris instead.

Otherwise, they warn, she risks splitting the Left-wing vote in key battleground states.

The Stein campaign told The Telegraph that it was “categorically not considering” dropping out.

Some commentators believe Ms Stein, who is on the ballot in almost every swing state, was crucial to Trump’s election in 2016 by siphoning votes away from Hillary Clinton.

NBC News:

Two Senate committees probing Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election have now asked for materials related to Green Party candidate Jill Stein’s campaign.

Why are investigators interested in Stein? The environmentalist, an advocate of better relations with Russia, has been a Kremlin favorite since her first run as the Green Party’s presidential candidate in 2012. She has regularly appeared on Russian state-owned television, including RT, and famously sat across from Russian President Vladimir Putin at a 2015 gala dinner.

“The Russian embrace of Jill Stein was anything but subtle,” said Andrew Weiss, a Russia expert at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. “Russian state propaganda outlets like RT had a field day with her strident attacks on the U.S. political establishment, and they seemed to work hand in glove.”

Clint Watts, an NBC News analyst who has been tracking Russian election interference at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, said that Russia’s intelligence agencies “sought to play both sides of the political spectrum to elevate Trump and turn down turnout for Clinton.”

  1. The Green Party is only ‘unserious’ here and ‘serious’ in Europe because Europe fosters third parties and we do everything we can to put third parties down including mocking them every single election. They only have an effect here because in our messed up electoral system one county in one state can decide the entire election. How screwed up is that? Stein wouldn’t be a factor at all if we just went by the popular vote like every other democracy in the world. Clinton won the popular vote by 2%, Biden won it by 4.5%, and Harris will almost certainly win it this year.

Stein didn’t run in 2020, and I’m disappointed she’s running this year, but the Greens were always going to run someone this year, just like the Libertarians always do.

Third party voters are typically profoundly turned off by one or the other major party for some reason or another. Chances are they wouldn’t have voted at all, or even worse voted for the other guy, instead of voting for the major party that offended them – the Muslim vote in Michigan being the prime example this year. If they’re going to vote for Stein, it’s not because they love her, but because she’s the person on the Green ticket. They would have voted for Howie Hawkins (2020 Green Party candidate) just as easily.

I hope they don’t vote for her, and that they’ll realize voting for anyone but Harris raises the chances that they’ll get a U.S. President even crueler towards the Palestinians than they have had, but rationality doesn’t always factor into a vote.

    Meanwhile:

The 1-2% of third party voters, and their candidates, though, will get the majority of the blame after the election if Harris loses – not the 47% or whatever percentage who vote for Trump, or even Trump himself, let alone the Democrats for not winning back the offended voters in the first place. Stupid burn it down lefties! The real ‘enemy within’!

    1. The Australian system of preferential voting provides the opportunity to vote third party without ‘wasting it’. Requires the winner to have an absolute majority in one round of voting. Can have bad/silly results in the senate. Voting is compulsory.

    2. There are many examples of both parties promising competing candidates for president positions within the new administration or adoption of some of the policies that the competing candidate have. The democratic party prefer to do that with candidates or billionaires that are more to the right than the left.

  2. It is possible that people like this are agents of outside regimes. Best bet is nihilistic egotists! aka Shtheds.

  3. Lashing out at people & parties accurately revealing the gross failures of both big parties in the US, because the one you’re glued to is within a micrometer of being as corrupt & irrational as the literally insane party, is neither rational nor useful.

    1. If you’re concerned about people not doing what’s necessary to preserve democracy & prevent catastrophic ecological collapse, ask the criminally psychopathic Democratic leadership why they’re not willing to say a word about the actual solutions, never mind implement them:

Declaring a national & global emergency & utilizing the full resources of the US & allies in a global, beyond-US-WWI-mobilization; condemning net zero 2050 as a mass murder-suicide pact between oligarchs and the Earth; counter-packing the Supreme court & all the other courts; ditching DeJoy & signing unbreakable 10-year contracts for all USPS & executive branch vehicles to be EVs; stopping all fossil fuel exploration & exploitation on federal land; embracing a vastly popular progressive position on every issue; taking every step possible to actually shut down fossil fuels & vastly ramp up deployment of efficiency & renewable energy; preventing the fossil fuel takeover of the COP process that is now a done deal…

There were hundreds of things they had the power to do & didn’t because they were more concerned with preserving their own power, position, & privilege under the cover of the laughable “free market” than preventing utter global ecological & civilizational destruction.

  4. It’s so completely unserious, to believe and argue that a candidate (this time Jill Stein) should ‘drop out for the greater good’

    (a) What real evidence do you have than corporate candidate A is radically different from corporate candidate B on these issues that matter, which will include the geopolitics of war with Russia, with Iran, with China, and crucially right now, of a genocide in real time in Palestine- Israel?

    (b) What real evidence do you have than corporate candidate A is radically different from corporate candidate B on the issues that matter on the environment, energy policy, and the production system. Do you really think the tinkering of candidate B (the male one) will make a radical difference from the business as usual of candidate A?

The US election is irrelevant, and its only meaning is to divide the spoils between two fractionally different sections of the corporate class.
Trump is awful, but does any sane environmentalist think Harris any better? And Stein (the moral vote) can only provide a marker this time.

Harris supports the genocide in Palestine, she supports more and more arms to Ukraine, she supports the Atlanticist / neocon agenda of ‘containment’ of Russia and China, supports (or will support) Israel against Iran, and WW3 will not be pleasant for anyone in the northern hemisphere. (Our death)
‘containment’ means war and a hoped for defeat and dismantling of those countries. ‘Regime change’, rUs.
By comparison, Trump is not on board with a couple of those, though would submit to the PermState bureaucracy / MIC.

War and military activity is possibly the single worst input to planetary ecosystem degradation.

Disruption to the USA money elites would be a better option for the rest of humanity (including most of citizens of USA)

    1. Twice you have asserted that there is a “Genocide” in “Palestine”. There is no genocide taking place in Gaza, and there is no Palestine in the West Bank or Gaza. Stop spewing the jargon and supposed statistics from Hamas, who lies about everything every single day for decades, and educate yourself properly on the topic. FFS.

      1. Gaza is not (yet) up to the levels of the Nazis or the Myanmar military, but the Israelis have blown up 60% of the buildings there, 90% of the children are going hungry, and the long term economic strangulation of the territory would have given South Africa’s apartheid regime a few useful pointers. https://www.aljazeera.com/opinions/2024/1/24/why-are-israeli-soldiers-sharing-snuff-videos-from-their-genocide-in-gaza

        1. The IDF, whose reports are actually trustworthy, says 16% of permanent dwellings have been destroyed. This figure is based on daily drone and satellite *evidence*:

          https://www.jns.org/idf-disputes-un-data-on-scale-of-gaza-destruction/

If Palestinian children are actually going hungry – which I doubt highly based on calories being delivered daily into Gaza – that is all on the Gazans themselves, 95+% of whom in 2007 voted for a Jihadi terrorist party. The IDF reports that 1 out of every 2 domiciles in Gaza contained weapons caches. If Gazans really wanted to overthrow Hamas, they could easily do so. But the fact is – they don’t. The Palestinians, both in Gaza and the West Bank, support Hamas overwhelmingly, think October 7th was just dandy, and want to repeat it forever.

There is no group of people in the history of the world who so richly deserve what they are getting. Stop supporting terrorism.

          1. You see these ‘highly accurate’ reports from IDF, and then the “84,276 temporary structures—including sheds and tents used by terrorist organizations”; does that include the video of the young man being burnt alive as he was in his hospital bed?

And then on your belief that “There is no group of people in the history of the world who so richly deserve what they are getting”, would you have said the same about the Jews killed in Lviv, or Warsaw, or any of the thousands of places throughout Europe Jewish civilian were murdered in, in the years 1939 – 1945?

          2. “would you have said the same about the Jews killed in Lviv, or Warsaw, or any of the thousands of places throughout Europe Jewish civilian were murdered in, in the years 1939 – 1945?”

Were the Jews in those places using terrorism for 100 years against Germans simply because they were Christians ?!? Your analogy sucks.

  5. ‘The United Nations Satellite Centre (UNOSAT) has released the 9th update of its assessment of the damage inflicted on buildings in the Gaza Strip. This analysis, based on very high-resolution satellite imagery collected on 3 and 6 September 2024, shows that two thirds of the total structures in the Gaza Strip have sustained damage. ‘
Al Jazeera report was based entirely on videos released by IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians themselves. My other link, which you don’t refer to, is a book about the Israeli father of a girl blown up by a Palestinian suicide bomber, who forms a parents group with the West Bank father of a girl shot in the head by the Israeli army on her way to school. Quite enlightening on the daily restrictions imposed on the people there.
I lived in Israel for three months, working on a kibbutz, when I was young, and liked it. No administration is perfect, and Hamas sure isn’t. But it’s pretty clear who’s getting curb stomped here.

    1. The United Nations? Whose schools inculcate Palestinians to hate Israel, to believe all of Israel belongs to them, to glorify terrorist “martyrs”? Whose schools harbor munitions caches and terrorists?

The same UN that passed a resolution that Palestinians men’s cruelty to their wives was Israel’s fault? The same UN that passed a resolution that “Zionism was racism”? (Look them up!)

The same UN that has passed 3x more resolutions against Israel than the entire world combined, while essentially ignoring the slaughter of millions of Muslims against other Muslims around the world?

The same UN that calls sovereign Israeli territory the “occupied Palestinian territory”?

Get your effing head out of the propaganda and do some deep research on the topic like I did 6 years ago. I went to original documents, starting in1918. The entire so-called “Palestinian” narrative is is a thin tissue of lies.
