  1. Channeling my Abandonment Asshole again: Surfside Beach is near Galveston. Both are on barrier islands. Any structures or settlements on barrier islands (including Miami Beach) should be sacrificed in the name of prudent triage. And by “sacrificed” I mean disallowed from being given ever-scarcer federal* funding for rebuilding permanent residential structures or roads to them, or purchasing mortgages of those properties. IMO, providing support (with a cap) for people to relocate from their primary residences is the best the Feds should do.
