Thanks for mentioning habitat loss & the insectoxipocalypse; (toxinsectapocalypse?) they are almost certainly the biggest causes of decline but are impossible to calculate with anything but a WAG so are almost always left out completely.
There’s a good documentary from 2012, Birders: The Central Park Effect, which opens by skimming the US’ metro Northeast and its dearth of habitat, then moves in to Manhattan’s Central Park to show how its thriving bird population and a selection of captivated New Yawkers.
