Andrew Dessler PhD: Extremes Will Overwhelm Built Environment

Miami and South Florida are built with big rains in mind – but not the type of storm that we are seeing today, and will see more of in the future.

Andrew Dessler explained to me the metaphor of climate change vs steroids in sports, and how the design specs of our built environment apply literally to a different planet than the one we live on today.

  1. But if there ever WAS any realistic possibility of avoiding runaway-climate-change then the points Andrew is making would have been acknowleged and acted upon 15/20 years ago ! Sorry folks , I just find it very difficult to get away from the conclusion that we are f*c**d !!!

    1. Uh-oh, that makes you a DOOMER!

Seriously, why anyone would waste a single phoneme on fighting doomerism while large chunks of the governments in America (Texas, Florida, Congressional members of GOP, etc.) are actively working to undo what modest advances we’ve achieved is beyond me.

    2. Of course we are buggard, definite Duh. It is how bad we will be screwed which depends on action now.
