  1. I’ve been harping for years though in earnest since the advent of the COVID about bacteria and viri thawing out of the thawing tundra that hasn’t seen a human since before we were human. That the COVID was as likely to have thawed out of the thawing tundra a viri that hasn’t seen a human since before we were human as jump from bat to dog to human or ‘escape’ a bioweapons facility in the US, Russia or Yisrael.

Which isn’t to say others haven’t listened, mostly nobody listens, simply because I, a kitchen-counter mad scientist, can not be the only one out of seven soon to be ten billions to recognize it.

I personally think it’s the biggest threat of all …

    1. There’s an academic paper that includes a permafrost discussion for novel viruses, attached for interest:
      ———————————————————————
Possible Roles of Permafrost Melting, Atmospheric Transport, and Solar Irradiance in the Development of Major Coronavirus and Influenza Pandemics

“3. Permafrost Melting as the Source of Pandemic-Generating Viruses
3.1. Links of Early COVID-19 Cases with Permafrost Distribution

Many regions in Russia with permafrost had more COVID-19 cases per million people through July than those without, irrespective of population density (Figure 1a).”

      1. We’ve already captured a strain of Anthrax thawing out of the thawing tundra that pre-dates humans, currently ‘contained’ at a bio-weapons facility in Cincinnati. Going forward we really need to be traveling under the assumption of not if but when.

Given our response to the Trump-flu I’m not posting high odds we’ll get through the next one …

  2. “That the COVID was as likely to have thawed out of the thawing tundra … as jump from bat to dog to human…”

Say what? There is zero evidence that COVID came from thawing permafrost.
