At this point, it’s as though Republicans have become Satan-worshipers: The only way they can gain favor with their Dark Lord is to kill as many people as possible. They may not say as much. They may not think it of themselves, either. But actions reveal who we really are. And by their actions, it’s impossible to draw any other conclusion.
I used to joke that I was an alien supervisor (say, from the planet Tibbit) sent on a Tibbitforming mission to change Earth to have the warm acidic ocean we evolved in on our home planet, and that the Koch Bros. and the fossil fuel companies were our agents to make that happen. This policy of active reversal gives me the impression that my joke may be reality after all.
The other alternative is that’s there’s some variant of “bring on the end times” religious delusion that’s driving this.
