All of the articles seem to be rephrasing the same press releases.
Do not count on this to address climate change for several decades at least (think of how long SMR development is taking). By then maybe it can be used to power those future “statue-esque” CO2 scrubbers from The Peripheral.
For God’s sake! When does common sense get a look-in? We need emissions-free energy NOW. A few decades down the road will be way, way too late. We have the necessary technology already. You don’t need a frontal attack on fossil fuels. Just stop subsidizing them. STOP GRANTING NEW LICENSES. The market itself will kill off fossil fuels.
But forget nuclear – be it fission or fusion. It costs hundreds of billions and contributes NOTHING to our immediate needs.
