OISST daily average ocean temperatures presented as anomalies from the 1982-2011 mean. Currently the highest anomaly value on record, and sharply above every other year for this date.
Above average temperature nearly everywhere. Major heatwave in the Northern Pacific and near South America. The latter is likely a developing El Niño, though not official till it spreads westward.

Looks like a doozy in the making. SST’s (sea surface temperatures) are already interesting. I would like to be wrong.

Maybe we will see record temperatures above 1,5°C this year. Previous month this site where this chart comes from already predicted it for a single day. This was for the northern hemishere but global valuesd where already above 1 degree with a baseperiod of 1979-2000. It is going real fast now.
