As I recall, this technique is called “breaking the bitch”: preying on young, emotionally vulnerable women by starting out all lovey-dovey and giving them gifts, then spring situations on them where they have to choose to cross a line (like perform a sex act with a “friend” as a favor) or lose his affection. After her self-esteem goes to zero, she’d see her only value as doing things to please him.
